APM Shuttle Being Removed From the Tracks

As part of Orlando International Airport’s Capital Improvement Program, new Mitsubishi Automated People Movers (APM) or ‘trains’ that shuttle passengers between the Main Terminal and Gates 1-59 are being installed to replace the 36-year old Bombardier trains.

The replacement of train systems began October 12, 2016 and will continue through March 2018. The new Mitsubishi trains are now in operation on Airside 3 (Gates 30-59) as that work was completed in June 2017.

The Airside 1 (Gates 1-29) train replacement work began June 2017 and will continue through March 2018. During the train replacement process, only a single APM (train) will remain operational. For that period, passengers traveling on these airlines may be impacted.

New APM Shuttle Train

Travelers departing on any of the above-mentioned airlines should allow for additional time to get to/from the main terminal and the gates.

Please note: International arriving passengers clearing immigration on Airside 1 (Gates 1-29) will be required to place their checked/larger baggage on the re-check belt after exiting the U.S. Immigration and Customs area.  International arriving passengers will pick up those re-checked bags on the 2nd level baggage claim of the main terminal.  Please check with your airline or the baggage claim monitors to identify the correct baggage carousel.

Should the single operating tram have an interruption of service, the airport will deploy buses to transport passengers between the terminal and the gates. Special signage and airport personnel will assist passengers until the train is returned to service.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this train replacement may cause during your travel through Orlando International Airport. We appreciate your understanding as we work to provide you a better travel experience at Orlando International Airport.
